Tell them to stop calling me, they keep telling me I’ve ‘defaulted’ on my loans and that those collection letters they’ve been sending me are ‘legally binding’ and that they can ‘have me arrested’, I know it’s really just Big Bank trying to scam a few more bucks out of the little guy.

It doesnt cost the user any money to have a kinja page. I theoretically could start a burner right now and start a blog with millions of hits, but if it’s on a burner there’d be next to no way to charge me.

It’s also a give-give relationship... Gawker media can use whatever we write in there as they please and make money out of it by resharing anything we write on Oppo onto Jalopnik or Gawker if they want to... And they did in the past and got millions of clicks thanks to what Oppo produced 100% for free.
It’s fair to say they can fuck off with “sponsored content” to “finance the site”... We’ve done, do and keep doing our fair share by offering free content to Jalopnik’s front page to not have to deal with this kind of crap. I’m happy to see whatever I write on Oppo shared on the FP... I happily do it for free. But don’t tell me Oppo “needs” advertising to keep on existing.

And just ot answer to you directly. Oppo members have contributed millions of clicks for free to Gawker media by providing 100% free content. I think we’ve done our fair share and do deserve NOT to be spammed with stupid unrelated sponsored content. What we’ve provided for free to Gawker paid for all the crap we can and keep on posting here.
It’s a give-give relationship. We offer some free content (that myself, am very happy to see shared on the FP), and we don’t have to deal with advertising totally unrelated crap in here.... Considering all the stuff that comes from Oppo and that gets on the FP, 100% free of cost, I think it’s a pretty damn good deal.

Won’t comment on that as I got enough heat from Patrick like this for once, daring to voice how I felt... I like Jalopnik. I think there are still some great content posted daily. But so much fill-ups... or stuff that simply does not have its place on Jalopnik. The amount of great content has been steadily going down over the past couple of years and that didn’t start with Patrick... I’m pretty damn certain the culprit for the quality of the content going down week after week is on a higher payroll than Patrick... It sucks... I like Jalopnik, but I see myself spend less and less time there because I simply feel like I’m not the one they aim their content at anymore.
